Congressman believes E15 bill will pass House
A Congressman says legislation to make E15 available nationwide year-round should pass the House soon.
Wisconsin Representative Tony Weid tells Brownfield he’s optimistic about the nationwide year-round E15 bill. “I think there’s legs with it to pass through the House. I think it’s important that we get that to a vote, and I think we will probably in the next two to three weeks.”
Seymour, Wisconsin, farmer Zac Soltvedt says passing nationwide E15 would expand ethanol access and help corn growers like him. “We’re looking to get this pushed through, and hopefully Congress keeps this on their docket so this gets done.”
The EPA granted another emergency waiver on March 25th to allow summertime E15 sales. Still, supporters say passing permanent legislation would bring long-term market certainty for farmers and ethanol producers, encourage investment by retailers, and lower fuel prices for consumers.
Weid and Soltvedt spoke to Brownfield during a Farmers for Free Trade event in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Don’t believe for a minute that this will benefit anyone other than corn growers. Your gas mileage will be terrible with E15. Minimum 20% less mileage. Sure it looks great at the pump but you will be in for a ride awakening when you have to buy a ton more gas. Plus all of our corn going into fuel is making beef so expensive only the wealthy can afford Hamburger Helper. Always follow the money.
