Congressman Mann remains optimistic about a farm bill
A Republican Congressman from Kansas says Congress has a lot of work to get done this year – but a farm bill needs to be a priority.
Tracey Mann tells Brownfield, “I’ve been to the floor I think thirty-five times now urging Member of Congress to get serious about passing a five-year farm bill, and I continue to remind the Congress that the reason farm bills are five years is they’ve got to be long enough to provide some certainty but short enough to change with the times.
He says the one-year extensions aren’t cutting it. “These do not provide the certainty that our ag producers and also their lenders need, you know, as they’re navigating these very complex businesses that feed, fuel, and clothe all of us.
Mann says getting President Trump’s nominee for Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins confirmed quickly is needed to help America’s farmers and ranchers.
