Congresswoman hopeful bipartisan support pushes E15 through Senate

A member of the U.S. House Ag Committee says the bipartisan support shown for nationwide E15 legislation should carry weight in the Senate.
Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski, a primary supporter of the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, tells Brownfield…
“We know that the farm economy is struggling. We know our corn growers are in particular struggling.” She says, “They need new markets. This should really truly be seen over in the Senate as a win. And so, I’m still very hopeful that this is something we can get across the finish line.”
In addition, the Illinois Democratic representative says it brings certainty to retailers and more options for consumers.
“This is a choice for consumers at the pump.” She says, “And I think they’re going to choose an E15 blend because what we see across the country is those are lower prices. We estimate about 30 cents a gallon less.”
Budzinski says if passed and signed into law, the measure would eliminate the current annual waiver process that limits access to the fuel in some states.
