Continuing to grow export demand
The director of market development for Ohio Corn and Wheat says trade missions in 2024 focused on building demand overseas.
Wendy Osborn says Ohio farmers visited four target markets in 2024.
“We were able to stretch across 3 continents through our trade missions this year,” she says. “One of the growing markets as we look at world population, there’s going to be many countries in Africa that continue to grow as their population gets stronger.”
She tells Brownfield there is a surplus of corn.
“The United States is the largest producer of corn in the world, and we produce more corn than we can consume,” she says. “We really need to work to get that exported.”
Osborn says the visits are an opportunity to show the quality of U.S. corn and how that sets it apart on a global scale.
