Corn and soybean emergence look good in parts of SD and MN

The lead agronomist with Peterson Farms Seed says farmers in South Dakota and Minnesota aren’t wasting time getting the crop planted, especially in the last week.

And Rick Swenson says the corn and soybeans are emerging well.

“The stuff that went in around April 25, the corn is coming up and the soil temperatures were warm, which will continue to encourage soybeans.”

Swenson says some farmers got their crop planted in early April and a few cold nights damaged the crop.

“I actually got my first call about a replant corn field today, but it doesn’t surprise me.”

He says there’s rain in the forecast this week, which might cause some slight delays, but overall, planting progress is going well.
