Corn condition declines in Kentucky, soybeans hold steady

Kentucky had below-normal precipitation and temperatures last week.

The state’s corn crop condition declined to 65 percent good to excellent.  Ninety-three percent of the crop is silking, 61 percent is in the dough stage and 37 percent has dented.  Soybean condition held steady again with 64 percent good to excellent, 80 percent blooming, 65 percent setting pods, and 12% coloring.

Tobacco set is rated 73 percent good to excellent with 75 percent blooming and 55 percent topped.  Five percent of the crop has been cut.

Pastures conditions improved again, and are now rated 60 good to excellent.  More rain is needed to aid in regrowth.

Topsoil moisture is 75 percent adequate to surplus and subsoil is 73 percent adequate to surplus.
