Corn exports trending in right direction, U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council says

An expert on agricultural trade says U.S. corn exports are on a record pace for the current marketing year.

Ellen Zimmerman is the director of industry relations for the U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council…

“Fifty-five percent above where we’ve been year-over-year. That’s good news. It’s a lot of volume being moved.”

She tells Brownfield it continues some recent trends.

“The last marketing year 24/25 we had record exports of commodity corn with Mexico being the top customer and Japan number two. We also had a record year for ethanol exports. We crossed over 2 billion gallons for the first time.”

Zimmerman says Canada made the bulk of those ethanol purchases.

She adds the corn and ethanol volumes tell U.S. farmers that there is demand.

“We see a lot more of that in a lot of different countries.”

Zimmerman spoke to Brownfield at a recent Trade Policy Academy hosted by the Iowa Corn Growers Association in Knoxville, Iowa.
