Corn growers ask ITC to deny tariffs on herbicide imports
The National Corn Growers Association is asking the International Trade Commission to deny a request from Corteva Agriscience to issue tariffs on imported 2,4-D herbicide.
Corteva filed anti-dumping and countervailing duty petitions with the ITC in mid-March responding to India and China’s trade practices.
President Harold Wolle tells Brownfield if approved, the tariffs would limit the production of the herbicide and raise prices for farmers.
“We’re suffering from a cost-price squeeze. Margins are thin and farmers need tools in the toolbox available to us at competitive prices.”
He says farmers use the herbicide as a burndown for weeds ahead of no-till or strip till planting.
