Corn growers seek long-term E15 certainty

A past president of the Iowa Corn Growers Association says an increase in domestic use could provide a boost for producers during a time of trade uncertainty.

Lance Lillibridge tells Brownfield, “That can happen with E15 or the Next Generation Fuels Act where we have higher blends of ethanol and biofuels.”

The eastern Iowa corn farmer says a permanent solution for year-round E15 is long overdue.

“There’s no logical reason why it hasn’t passed. A dysfunctional Washington, D.C. is causing the problem here. We had a conversation with Speaker Johnson here about a week ago and he felt pretty confident E15 would be passed year-round maybe later this summer.”

The EPA has already issued a waiver permitting the sale of E15 in 8 Midwestern statesincluding Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsinstarting on April 28th.
