Corn, soybean ratings climb as Nebraska crops progress

Crop conditions are moving in the right direction for Nebraska farmers.

USDA’s latest weekly crop update shows corn improved from 63 to 65 percent good to excellent, while soybeans went from 65 to 68 percent good to excellent.

Corn development is close to normal with 60 percent silking and 6 percent at the dough stage.

Soybeans are also maturing near the five-year average with 69 percent blooming and 23 percent setting pods.

Sorghum is 16 percent headed, with the majority of the crop in either fair or good condition.

The winter wheat harvest is close to 60 percent complete.
