Corteva announces Pairwise partnership
Corteva Agriscience says it’s partnering with tech company Pairwise to help advance climate resilience in agriculture.
Tom Greene, senior director and global leader for Corteva Catalyst, says the company’s $25 million equity investment will expand the reach of gene editing to a wide variety of staple and specialty crops.
“And then it surrounds sort of looking at how we continue to apply the technology to deliver traits and concepts that are important for us as an organization. It’s really two-fold.”
He tells Brownfield there will be collaboration on the deployment of gene edited products that are more resilient to extreme weather events and climate change.
“Whether that’s heat, lack of water, or wind,” Greene said. “I think genome editing really gives us that ability to accelerate how we leverage our germplasm base.”
Greene says the joint venture with Pairwise will span five years.
