Craig: don’t let nationwide E15 slip away again

The Ranking Member of the House Agriculture Committee is looking to avoid a repeat of last year’s failure to pass year-round nationwide E15 legislation.

Minnesota Democrat Angie Craig tells Brownfield she’s optimistic lawmakers can find a pathway before the end of 2025.

“But we’ve been here before. At the end of the year last year we thought we were going to be able to finally get this across the finish line, and it got ripped out of the bill at the last moment. So again, Republicans are going to have to step up and fight for this.”

She says potential vehicles for nationwide E15 language were discussed during a recent meeting between several House Biofuels Caucus members.

“There’s some thought of putting it into the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) over in the Senate, although that’s hit a few speed bumps. Obviously I and my Republican colleagues, particularly from the Midwest, are going to be looking for any avenue.”

Earlier this year Craig introduced bipartisan legislation to make year-round access to E15 permanent nationwide called the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act.
