Crop margins not as bleak
Crop margins are improving in the New Year.
Minnesota corn and soybean farmer Darin Johnson says he’s taken advantage of the recent market rally.
“We still really are under our cost of production, but we did rally to a point where it doesn’t hurt quite as bad. So yeah, it is nice to have that opportunity to price some of that (grain).”
Speaking to Brownfield at the MN Ag Expo in Mankato, Minnesota Wednesday, he said the $10 billion in economic assistance passed at the end of the last Congressional session helps.
“For a lot of farms that’s going to pay some of the bills this year, that’s going to help us garner some financing that’s desperately needed.”
