Crops drying down fast in north Iowa

North central Iowa farmer Stu Swanson finished harvesting soybeans this week.

“Soybeans dried down very rapidly and now as we’ve moved into corn we’re finding that also dried down rapidly.”

The Wright County farmer tells Brownfield soybean yields were good.

“Not great. I think the end of the season dryness that we had here in August, we just didn’t get that last little kick that we sometimes get. So happy with where we’re at and excited about the corn we’ve been in so far.”

Swanson, the current president of the Iowa Corn Growers Association, says most of the corn is averaging around 15 percent moisture.
