Custom harvesters meet in Omaha

Custom harvesters from across the U.S. have gathered in Omaha this week for their annual meeting. Mark Anderson—one of the younger ones—is a first-generation custom cutter from Bridgeport in western Nebraska.
“I left a corporate American job when another custom harvester in my home area retired,” Anderson says. “I bought a machine and got started that way.”
Anderson specializes in silage chopping and says it’s been a great experience.
“When I first started, I really didn’t know that much about the harvesting business. I just kind of wanted to drive the machines,” he says. “As I got involved with the U.S. Custom Harvesters and got to learn from some of the guys that have been the business a lot longer than me, I was able to grow and better my business.”
Anderson is treasurer of the U.S. Customer Harvesters’ board of directors.
