Dairy innovation takes center stage with Midwest Dairy’s startup accelerator

The dairy industry is looking to discover and support emerging startups.

Midwest Dairy research and innovation manager Sydney Herr says through a partnership with VentureFuel, Midwest Dairy is launching their second annual Accelerator program for the next generation of dairy-forward entrepreneurs.

“We look at all different sorts of areas of interest, beverages, butters and spreads, yogurts, snacks, cheeses, obviously your ice creams, dressings, sauces, condiments.”

She tells Brownfield last year’s top prize winner was Rosebud Ice Cream of Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

“Yes it is your ice cream, but the packaging is what made it very unique. You’re kind of reimagining soft serve ice cream in portable pouches, so they’re clean, convenient, and mess-free. So they really sold themselves on being kid friendly.”

Herr says Midwest Dairy will be taking applications for the Accelerator program through May 5th, and participants will receive professionally created brand assets, gain media exposure, and connect with buyers.
