Dairy operator pleased with Plenish soybeans
A young, Wisconsin dairyman says Plenish soybeans from Pioneer are causing him to alter his operation.
Evan Schrauth from Cloven View Holsteins in Fond du Lac County says 2024 was his first experience feeding the high oleic soybeans.
“We’ve loved it.” He says, “We saw an increase in milk along with components and we really strive for high component production here. We milked some Guernsey’s and crossbreds, but I really want to get as many pounds of butter fat, and protein into that milk before it leaves the driveway because it goes to make cheese.”
He tells Brownfield he’ll be incorporating the soybeans into his corn and alfalfa rotation this spring.
“With the Plenish beans, we’ve really been able to capture that extra almost half a percent of butter fat,” he says, “and a quarter percent of protein, and we’ve even gained a few pounds of milk.”
Schrauth says those extras add up to help improve his farm’s profitability.
Schrauth was recently named the 2025 GroundBreaker of the Year by Compeer Financial.
