Deer hunters donate venison
Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH) and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) report Ohio hunters have donated 1,170 white-tailed deer to local food banks during the 2013 hunting season.
The donated deer equals approximately 58,500 pounds of venison and 234,000 meals for needy Ohioans (nationally, hunters provide more than 11 million meals to people in need).
The venison donation program will run through the end of deer archery season on February 2, 2014.
