Delegates vote for U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council

The U.S. Grains Council is amending its name to be more inclusive of the export products it represents.

CEO Ryan LeGrand tells Brownfield, “We started out as the U.S. Feed Grains Council in 1960.”

“In 1998, we changed to the U.S. Grains Council, and now we’re looking to incorporate ethanol, distillers grains, and all the current and future products coming out of United States ethanol plants into our name.”

LeGrand says the organization expects more doors to open under the U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council.

“For 20 years, distillers grains have been part of our identity and practice, for 10 to 12 years, ethanol has been part of our identity in practice, but neither have been part of our identity in name.”

U.S. Grains Council delegates approved the change during last week’s 65th Annual Meeting in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
