An ag real estate specialist says there’s still some good demand for farmland across the U.S.

Matt Gunderson with Farmers National Company says sales have been steady. “Better even than we thought considering what the commodity markets are doing. There’s still strong demand. As a whole, you’re seeing less agricultural land come to market.”

Speaking to Brownfield at the 2024 NAFB Convention in Kansas City, he said there continues to be some pop-up sales above $20,000 per acre. “Those are great headline grabbers certainly, but it’s probably not the norm. All it takes is two determined bidders to be able to make that happen.”

Gunderson says he expects land sales to strengthen in 2025.
