Despite lower soybean yields, Michigan farmer leader says overall harvest surpassed expectations

Brownfield's Erin Anderson interviews Michigan farmer Jana Fritz during the 2025 NAFB Convention.

The President of DF Seeds says yields turned out better than average on her farm.

Janna Fritz grows corn, soybeans, wheat, dry beans, and triticale in Huron County.

“I’d say on the soybean front, it was actually slightly below average, but everything else was slightly above, nothing that broke any records, but we were pleasantly surprised with our outcomes,” she shares.

She says some decisions for next year won’t be influenced by prices.

But, Fritz says she plans to pull back on extra expenses like experimental trials and anything beyond the basics.

Brownfield’s Erin Anderson interviewed Fritz during Trade Talk at the 2025 NAFB Convention.
