Dow merger with DuPont final

The merger of Dow Chemical Company and DuPont is now final. The new company, named DowDuPont began trading on the New York Stock Exchange today under DWDP.  Officials say the focus now is on the structure of the three separate companies under the new name, one of them agribusiness.

It’s unclear how the merger will affect the workforce of both companies and there remain concerns about decreased competition in the ag space.

DuPont had to sell off some crop protection business to get EU approval.

This is the first of three major ag industry proposed mergers to take place. ChemChina’s purchase of Syngenta is close to the finish line. Bayer’s merger with Monsanto has some regulatory hurdles in Europe which Monsanto tells Brownfield is a normal part of the process.
