Dry conditions push Tennessee corn harvest

Drought conditions are spreading across Tennessee along with crop stress.

USDA says corn condition is rated 44 percent good to excellent with 95 percent in the dough stage, 88 percent dented, 59 percent mature, and 16 percent harvested.

Cotton in the state has 37 percent of bolls opening.  USDA says the crop is rated 32 percent good to excellent.

Soybeans are 95 percent setting pods and 29 percent dropping leaves. The crop’s condition is rated 42 percent good to excellent.

Tobacco plants are 95 percent topped and 40 percent cut with 59 percent rated good to excellent.

Pastures are rated 17 percent good to excellent.
