Dual chamber balers improve field efficiency for producers

Brownfield's Meghan Grebner interview Cort Morris from Kubota at the 2026 National Farm Machinery Show.

A new dual-chamber baler with single-row output is helping address labor challenges that continue in the ag sector.

Cort Morris, Kubota product manager says the innovative design means one operator, one tractor, and one machine that does the work of two.

He tells Brownfield the new high-capacity small square balers with the SSB Series (SSB2014 and SSB2012 models) represent a significant advancement in commercial hay production.  He says producers will be able to cut their field time in half without sacrificing quality.

Two bale size options are available.  The SSB2014 producers standard 14×18 inch bales and the SSB2012 creates bales that are 12.25×18 inch.  The minimum PTO horsepower requirement is 100, with 120 PTO horsepower recommended for optimal performance and attachment operation.
