Early harvest results promising in western Illinois
A western Illinois agronomist says early harvest results in his area are very promising.
Lance Tarochione, field agronomist with Dekalb/Asgrow, tells Brownfield…
“225 is the worst yield I’ve heard.” He says, “I’ve never seen this many plots with 300 plus bushel corn in them. I’ve seen side by sides in fields where, you know, both hybrids were over 300. I’ve heard of a couple honest field averages of 300, and lots of 280 – 285.”
He says there’s more variety to early soybean results.
“The good soybeans have been phenomenal.” He says, “Now there’s been some average ones as well. I would say indications are the bean crop is maybe not quite as stellar as the corn crop, but it’s amazing as well.”
Tarochione says harvest pace is picking up, however some of the later planted fields could still be a month away from harvesting.
