Early winners at World Dairy Expo show ring
World Dairy Expo officially starts Tuesday, but cattle have been in the show ring since Saturday.
World Dairy Expo® welcomed 445 competitors to the colored shavings for the Youth Showmanship Contest Saturday. Winning the Junior Division out of 148 participants was Brady Mcconnell of Lancaster, Wisconsin. Kayla Trustem from Evansville, Wisconsin, won the Intermediate Division. In the Senior Division with 168 exhibitors, Tyler Leuch from Pulaski, Wisconsin, placed first.
The winning Five-Year-Old Cow in the 2024 International Junior Holstein Show Sunday was Oakfield Tato Tender-ET, owned by Chloe and Claire Lamb of Oakfield, New York. The cow won both the Senior and Grand Champion titles.
New York took the top honors in the 102nd National 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Contest at World Dairy Expo®. Florida and Wisconsin placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The University of Minnesota finished first among 17 schools in the 103rd National Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest at World Dairy Expo®. The team finished with a score of 2,530 and added to their achievements by also being the high team for reasons. The University of Wisconsin-Madison and Iowa State University placed 2nd and 3rd.
Modesto Junior College from California came out on top in the 34th International Post-Secondary Dairy Cattle Judging Contest. They secured the Overall Team, Overall Reasons Team, High Individual, and High Individual Reasons honors.
