Ensuring farmers have products available
Syngenta has made significant investments to bring production of its crop protection products back to the United States.
Heath Billingsly heads up the company’s production and supply for North America. “We have our plants in Saint Gabriel, Louisiana, and Omaha, Nebraska, and through those investments, we are now producing 98% of our products in the US,” he says.
He tells Brownfield the company learned from the supply change disruptions experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Our lead times are really long,” he says. “So by investing capacity in the US, we really can shorten those lead times.”
Billingsly says those investments also improve farmer efficiency. “We’re getting the right product to the farmer at the right time,” he says. “And we’re really able to be responsive as farmers needs change.”
