Entering the next decade of ag technology

The multitude of agriculture technology currently available is only the beginning as farmers work to maintain efficiency and profitability in the coming decade.

“We’ve got a wave of ag technology coming our way, faster than they have ever come before.”

Linda Kull is the Director of Ag Innovations for the Illinois Soybean Association. She tells Brownfield professionals in the ag tech world have data to show we are approaching the fourth agricultural revolution and technologies such as machine learning, drones, blockchain and automated equipment will have a larger presence in the next decade.

“They organize massive amounts of data an have the ability to put it at the farmer’s fingertips for quick, profitable and informed decisions. So, I would say at the top of the list for 2020, what you should look at and what you should watch for from technology is the digitization in agriculture and any of the technologies that support that.”

She says multi-national agribusinesses bring 30 to 40 billion dollars in new technology to farms each year, so being able to prioritize technology for each specific farm will continue to be a key management tool.
