EPA ag advisor bullish on U.S. biofuels
The U.S. EPA’s (former) ag advisor says he’s optimistic about the future of biofuels in the United States.
Rod Snyder says farmers and the feedstocks they produce will play an important role in the growth of Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
“We’re just on the front end of that really important work and I’m looking forward to seeing how the industry continues to adapt and work with the EPA on those critical decisions.”
He tells Brownfield that work includes finalizing tax credits included in the Inflation Reduction Act.
Snyder also says advancing regulatory policy, like the Renewable Fuels Standard, will be important if the biofuels industry is going to continue to grow and be a bigger market for commodities.
“We have done our best (at EPA) to get the RFS back on stable footing and also, making sure year-round E15 sales have been available. We’ve tried to do everything we can to ensure some stability for this industry and the future. I think that work is going to have to continue.”
Snyder’s last day as ag advisor at the EPA was Wednesday, August 14. Hear the interview.
