Ernst continues push for nationwide E15 standard

A U.S. Senator continues to call for year-round sales of E15 nationwide.

Iowa Republican Joni Ernst tells Brownfield the biofuel will be available during the summer months in eight Midwestern states beginning next year.

“But we need the Biden-Harris administration to do the waiver for the rest of the nation (and) we should do that soon, but then move it into more permanent authorization. So I’ve been pressing on this with the EPA.”

She says there are several bipartisan bills in Congress that would allow E15 to be sold year-round across the country.

“And a shoutout to (Minnesota Senator) Amy Klobuchar, she’s been a wonderful partner on so many of these issues including the E15 issue.”

Last year, Klobuchar introduced the Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2023, which would enable the year-round, nationwide sale of ethanol blends higher than 10 percent.
