Ernst, Grassley continue push for E15 sales this summer

A pair of Republican U.S. Senators are urging the Biden administration to implement a permanent solution for E15 sales.

Joni Ernst of Iowa says there’s an opportunity to eliminate a patchwork of regulations that consumers and producers face.

“We’d love to see the administration act on that and do it permanently,” she said, “rather than us relying on emergency waivers every single year.”

Iowa’s Chuck Grassley says the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposal to delay year-round sales until next year would be a bad move.

“Why not in 2023? We’re told it’s because the suppliers need time to adjust to it,” he said. “They didn’t need time to adjust to it last year.”

In a recent letter to President Biden, Grassley said gas prices are rising once again and E15 would offer lower prices at the pump.
