Ernst holds roundtable to discuss EV mandate

A Midwestern U.S. Senator recently held a roundtable to discuss electric vehicle mandates with stakeholders that included ag and biofuel leaders.

Iowa Republican Joni Ernst tells Brownfield last Saturday’s meeting in Dubuque featured representatives from the Iowa Corn Growers, Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Biodiesel Board, the Iowa Auto Dealers, and the Iowa Motor Truck Association.

“There’s a number of issues with the mandate itself (including) power generation, how do we actually power all of these vehicles that are mandated to be on the road? It’s not possible, the statistics show that.”

She says biofuels are a better solution for cleaning up the transportation sector.

“And that means allowing access to greater, higher blends at the pump for our ethanol, and making sure that we have access to biodiesel. And not just here in the Midwest, but across the nation as well.”

Ernst says she and other members of Congress will continue to promote biofuels and push back against the proposed Biden EV mandate.
