Ethanol industry seeks E15 fix under second Trump admin
The head of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association says he’s optimistic a federal solution for year-round E15 will get prioritized under a second Trump administration.
Monte Shaw tells Brownfield he remains hopeful the issue will be tackled within the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency. “We’re talking to the incoming Trump team about it, the transition team. Our champions in Congress know about it.”
He says the continued delays have been frustrating. “Unfortunately, there are some in the oil industry who are trying to block this because they’re worried that they can’t compete. As many of your listeners know, E15 usually sells for around 15 cents a gallon less than E10 where I go.”
Shaw says a yearly summer waiver from the U.S. EPA isn’t sustainable long-term.
