Ethanol plant CEO calls corn harvest “fast and furious” in southern Minnesota

The CEO of a southern Minnesota ethanol plant says harvest is going smoothly.

Brian Kletscher is with Highwater Ethanol near Lamberton.

“Crop has been fast and furious. Taken in probably a record a week ago Saturday (of) 315,000 bushels, most we’ve ever taken in one day.”

He tells Brownfield local corn yields are ranging from 120 bushels per acre to 270.

“And that is a big variable. I would say east of Lamberton is a little bit worse than west of Lamberton, and northwest of Lamberton the crop seems to be pretty decent in those areas.”

He says test weights have been extremely good with recent averages around 58 pounds per bushel.

Kletscher made these comments during Brownfield affiliate KNUJ’s Farm Forum Friday hosted by Mark Dorenkamp.
