Ethanol production falls on week, stocks tighten
Seasonal maintenance is having an impact on U.S. ethanol production.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.009 million barrels per day, the lowest since late January, down 31,000 on both the week and the year.
Overall, corn for ethanol use continues to be solid and ethanol demand signals were generally positive.
The Renewable Fuels Association says ethanol stocks of 25.881 million barrels were the tightest since early March, 1.607 million less than previous week, but 492,000 more than a year ago.
Net inputs of ethanol purchased by refiners and blenders were fractionally lower, while the volume of gasoline supplied to the market was fractionally higher, and both were above late April 2025.
Ethanol exports averaged 170,000 barrels per day, an increase of 79,000 from the week before and 29,000 from last year.
The USDA’s updated corn for ethanol use estimate is out May 12th.
