Ethanol production rises as supply hits 2025 low
U.S. ethanol production moved to a two-month high last week.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.056 million barrels per day, up 20,000 on the week as more plants ended seasonal maintenance, but down 12,000 on the year.
Iowa State University’s Center for Agricultural and Rural Development says operating margins for the average Iowa plant tightened, while remaining in positive territory.
Ethanol production notched a 2025 low at 24.281 million barrels, 663,000 lower than the previous week, but 1.074 million higher than a year ago.
The Renewable Fuels Association says net inputs of ethanol purchased by refiners and blenders and the volume of gasoline supplied to the market were above the week before.
Ethanol exports averaged 66,000 barrels per day, dropping 28,000 from the prior week and 146,000 from this time last year.
The USDA’s updated corn for ethanol use guess is out June 12th.
