Ethanol prominent during Iowa Corn Day at Iowa State Fair

Iowa State Fairgoers are learning about the benefits of ethanol.

Iowa Corn Promotion Board president Stan Nelson says Unleaded 88 is being featured during this year’s Iowa Corn Day at the Fair.

“It gives us the opportunity to talk to a wide range of consumers on the value of E15, the economy of E15, it’s affordable. It’s made from corn (which) makes it renewable. It’s just a great opportunity for us.”

Speaking to Brownfield during the Iowa State Fair Friday, he said the ethanol market consumes about 40 percent of the corn grown in the U.S.

“Ethanol and its byproducts are driving the economy. On one side of the plant you get ethanol, on the other side of the plant you get Dried Distillers Grains for livestock feed.”

Nelson says that strikes a great balance for end users of corn.
