Ethanol seen as a quicker way to climate goals than electric vehicles

An automobile expert says ethanol-based fuel is the quickest way to reduce emissions and create cleaner air.

Marc Rauch is Executive Vice President of The Auto Channel, the largest independent automotive information resource. He tells Brownfield electric vehicles are the future, but they won’t be the primary vehicle on the roads for a long time.

“We are gong to have to continue to rely on internal combustion engines, and if we continue to rely on petroleum oil to power those engines, we are not going to get to a point where we will have cleaner air and water.”

He says ethanol would allow the industry to get to that point almost immediately.

“Everybody in the world could be using cleaner, safer, healthier ethanol either entirely or as high blend level fuels and that would give us a significant reduction in bad emissions.”

And he says American corn farmers are helping achieve energy security with ethanol produced right here in the US.

“Personally speaking, I would much rather have my fuel money go to American farmers than foreign dictators and despots.”

Rauch highlights more benefits of ethanol to the auto industry in the latest episode of Missouri Corn Talk on Brownfield.
