Extended grain handling equipment lead times
Farmers wanting to buy grain handling equipment might be in for a long wait.
Kent Craighton with Sukup Manufacturing tells Brownfield supply chain disruptions are limiting production.
“That being said, I would just make sure that if you’re looking to do something with grain dryers in the next year or two, or if you’re looking to do something with material handling, maybe you’re looking at putting in a new leg system or a new receiving pit or something of that nature, I would not wait on those projects.”
He recommends planning for next year right now.
“Three years in a row we’ve pretty much been sold out on grain dryers by mid-winter. So it’s something that when you’ve got a good product like we have with our mix-flow dryers or our material handling equipment, it draws a lot of attention and gets tied up pretty quick.”
Sukup is based in north-central Iowa and is the world’s largest family-owned manufacturer of grain handling equipment.
Brownfield interviewed Craighton during the Iowa Ag Expo in early February.
