Farm bill delays leave growers in limbo, Iowa farmer says
A southwest Iowa farmer says farm policy is one of his biggest concerns this fall.
Duane Aistrope says farmers need a new five-year farm bill. “We just need to get a darn farm bill passed. It sounds like maybe in the lame duck session we’ll get something done, but I’m not crossing my fingers.”
He tells Brownfield the lack of certainty has been frustrating. “It just leaves everybody in a limbo trying to decide what to do.”
Aistrope says another extension would be disappointing. “Things are different now than they were when the last farm bill was out. We really need to bring it up to date for the things we need.”
He raises corn, soybeans, and operates a cow-calf operation near Randolph.
