Farm bill policy priorities for the Iowa Farm Bureau

The president of the Iowa Farm Bureau says he remains focused on advocating for a new five-year farm bill.

Brent Johnson says reauthorization will be critical for producers in 2025 and IFBF has several priorities it would like to see included. “Modernizing the reference prices, and making sure we keep crop insurance and some of those management tools that are so fundamental. They have a meaningful impact at everybody’s farm gate.”

He says a new farm bill should address California’s Proposition 12 law. “To shore up those issues so that we can navigate state-by-state legislations so that it doesn’t impact livestock production.”

Johnson spoke to Brownfield at the recent Iowa Farm Bureau convention in Des Moines.
