Farm Bureau president conveys importance of crop protection tools to Trump
The president of American Farm Bureau suggests the Trump administration is gaining a deeper appreciation for crop protection products.
AFBF president Zippy Duvall says during a recent meeting with President Trump they discussed the importance of crop protection tools like pesticides.
“I can’t tell you how many times he said ‘tell me why that is, tell me how that is.’ He just kept on with questions after questions, and I actually basically gave him a science class on what crop protection tools did for us and how it helped us be able to keep (food) pantries in this country full. And he realizes now how important that is.”
He tells Brownfield American Farm Bureau is cautiously optimistic the next Make America Healthy Again Commission report will be more focused on science and less critical of agriculture.
“Of course all of us, all of us support making Americans healthy again. And we’re going to do what we can do as agriculture to do that.”
An EPA official said this week the next MAHA report will continue to respect regulatory frameworks that have found glyphosate safe.
