Farmer concerned about soil moisture

Northwest Ohio farmer Mike Heffelfinger says soil moisture is a concern ahead of the planting season.

“We have had a dry spell up in this part of the country and it had me a little worried,” he says.

He says some timely rains have helped.

“We did receive a fair amount of moisture here about 10 days ago,” He says. “We had pretty heavy rains and have had a few small showers since then.”

Heffelfinger, with the Ohio Soybean Council,  says he’s about three or four weeks away from planting because of his clay soils.
