Farmer faces grain transportation challenges
North Central Ohio farmer Anthony Bush says moving grain is one of the biggest challenges he’s had this winter.
“A lot of the terminals that we haul to are waiting on railcars and we just can’t get product hauled like we used to,” he says.
But, things are looking up…..”Normally by this time of year I have a lot of grain hauled and I’m still hauling grain like it’s January. But, things are improving now as we move into March.”
He says the supply chain back-up is worldwide and will take time to sort out.
“Processors are full plus we had pretty good crops last year overall, so everything backs up to the farm and it takes time to work through it,” he says.
Bush says he’s looking forward to completing some fieldwork – including clearing fence rows and tile work– and planting season.
