A northwest Iowa farmer says he’s pleased to move on from the 2024 growing season.

Nathan Anderson says his farm was impacted by multiple weather extremes.

“April 1st to June 30th ranked number one in precipitation ranks out of 132 years,” he said. “We had a really wet start to the year. Second half of the growing season was number 126 out of 132, a top 10 driest end to the growing season.”

He tells Brownfield he had to replant many fields due to flooding events in May and June.

“It was a really interesting dynamic of starting really wet and ending very dry. Despite the challenges, we saw some pretty good yields for the most part. We saw some disease concern with tar spot in corn.”

Anderson, who farms in Cherokee County, says he also had some fences washed out by storms late in the spring.
