Farmer says crops are looking good
Central Ohio farmer Bret Davis says field conditions have been just right in his area.
“We got things planted in a timely manner, we got things up and growing, we’ve had timely rains, and we’ve been able to control weeds and apply fertilizers at the right time.”
He tells Brownfield there are pockets of standing water, but crops are looking good.
“I was talking to a neighbor the other day who said he’s waiting for the other shoe to drop because things look too good,” he says. “But sometimes you better take what the good Lord gives you and smile and go on.”
He tells Brownfield it was a different story last year with planting and growing challenges and having either too much or too little water.
Davis grows soybeans, corn, and wheat. He is an Ohio Soybean Association board member and serves on the American Soybean Association’s Board of Directors.
