Farmer says plant 19 has been unlike any other year

West Central Indiana Farmer Brent Bible says the 2019 planting season has been unlike anything he’s experienced.

“I don’t know any other way to say it other than 2019 has been a dumpster fire of a year,” he says. “It’s been a stressful year, a challenging year, and we’re only in mid-July.”

Bible tells Brownfield he has had to change planting decisions daily.

“We made changes to our plan more times this year than probably we’ve ever made to all of our plans put together,” he says.

He says although it was challenging, they were able to finish planting.

“A significant number of our acres were planted after what I’ll call the penalty date- especially with corn, we planted a lot of corn after June 5,” he says. “But we felt it was important to continue to plant when we had the opportunity.”

Bible grows corn and soybeans in Tippecanoe, Montgomery, and Clinton Counties.
