Farmer uses technology to improve bottom line
An east central Indiana farmer is using technology to improve his bottom line.
Jim Kline says farm management software helps them make decisions at a time when the ag industry continues to face low commodity prices.
“We’re able to track not only our inputs but also our inventories so within seconds we know what we have available as far inputs whether it be inputs for producing the crop or our actual production,” he says.
He tells Brownfield they are also growing value-added crops.
“We’re raising a lot of non-GMO soybeans and we’re raising seed and we’re trying to do some things to add value,” he says. “Economic times right not are not very good on the farm so we’re trying to use the information that we have available to us.”
Kline spoke to Brownfield at the Forbes Ag Tech Summit in Indianapolis.
