Farmers assessing crop to inform 2025 decisions

Farmers are moving through harvest and assessing this year’s crop.

Brevant Seeds retail agronomist Lewis Kuppler says this is a critical time to review what worked and what didn’t.

“Where were our successes (and) where were our failures? That’s part of life, that’s things that we need to take a critical look at. Look towards the future and see what it holds for us by looking at the past.”

He tells Brownfield growers might reflect and consider adopting different practices like strip-till.

“Because we had a rough cold spring, we can alleviate some of that. Or maybe it’s variety choices, maybe a certain variety did better on your ground versus the others. Maybe it was disease, you got tar spot that came through, you got Goss’ wilt.”

Kuppler says these types of considerations can help put farmers in a position for success in 2025.
