Farmers stay connected on ag policy in 2025
A southwest Iowa farmer says he’s concerned about uncertainty in the ag industry.
Jeff Jorgenson says he’s hopeful agriculture will be a priority for the incoming Trump administration.
“As we transition into a new administration that appears to look at cutting quite a few things, just figuring out where we’re going to be in agriculture and where USDA is going to fit into that. It’s obviously concerning especially when we have lower commodity prices anyway.”
He tells Brownfield it will be important for producers to stay up to speed on policy, like the farm bill.
“I’ve been talking to our state representatives and I will be making some emails to our national leaders just to make sure they are seeing agriculture is looked after.”
Jorgenson raises corn, soybeans, and livestock in Fremont County.
